What are the categories of competition? There are three categories of competition: Interview, Evening Gown, and Swimsuit. The interview is five minutes with each of the five judges and is 50% of the total score. Evening Gown and Swimsuit are 25% each. Is there an age limit? No. Married women ages 18 and older are encouraged to enter. Do I need a talent? No. The pageant consists of Inteview, Evening Gown and Swimsuit. Do I need to win a preliminary event before competing at the state level? No. Just send in your application and deposit. I've never done a pageant. Is previous pageant experience necessary? No. In fact, many past winners had never done a pageant before Mrs. Missouri. How will I know how to prepare for the pageant? After submitting your application and deposit, you will receive your detailed information packet. The directors will work with you each step of the way to ensure that you know exactly how to prepare. There is also a contestant workshop one month prior to the pageant. You'll meet the other delegates, begin rehearsals, learn everything you need to know to feel your best at the pageant and have a lot of fun! Is there an entry fee? Yes. What other costs are involved?
Can I raise money through sponsors? Yes! If you get started early you can get most of your expenses covered by sponsors. What is the platform? This is an issue or charity about which you feel passionate. It is what you will promote should you be chosen as the next Mrs. Missouri. What is involved in pageant weekend? Delegates arrive on Thursday evening for the welcome dinner and stay until the awards breakfast Sunday morning. The days are fun-filled with rehearsal, interviews, preliminaries, parade and autograph session, finals, crowing the new winner and an after-party celebration. It is a weekend full of memories you'll treasure for a lifetime. Will I stay with my family during the pageant? During the workshop you will stay with another contestant. During the pageant, you may stay with your family. What does Mrs. Missouri win? The Grand Prize is an all-expenses paid trip to compete in the nationally-televised Mrs. America Pageant. For a listing of other prizes, see "Prize Package" After winning, what does Mrs. Missouri do? Mrs. Missouri spends her year promoting her platform and making appearances at community events throughout the state. To see a schedule of events and photo of appearances, go to "Mrs. Missouri on the Move" When is the Mrs. America Pageant? Generally it takes place the beginning of September. Contestants are at the national pageant for two weeks. How do I become a contestant? Click on "Become a Contestant" and print off an applicatoin, or "Contact the Director."

Is there an entry fee? Yes. $100.00 includes your pageant entry, pre-pageant workshop and pizza party, parade entry and Saturday lunch. Do I need a talent? There is an optional talent competition, but it is not included in the scoring for the Princess Winners. There is a talent winner selected in each age division and the overall high score will perform again on Saturday night at the Mrs. Missouri finals. What is the talent entry fee? $50.00 How will I know how to prepare for the pageant? After sending in your application, you will receive your detailed information packet. One month prior to the pageant you will begin rehearsals and receive instructions at the pre-pageant workshop. The directors will walk you through everything you need to know to help you do your best! When do I arrive at the pageant? Friday afternoon around 4:30 pm. What is the pageant schedule? On stage introductions, formal wear and optional talent take place on Friday. The pageant begins at 7:30 pm. Interviews are Saturday morning followed by the contestant parade. Do all contestants ride in the parade? Yes! All contestants achieve celebrity status at the contestant parade. There is a reception after the parade for all contestants, friends and family, as well as community members. Are there other ways to win or receive recognition? Yes. Contestants can sell program book ads to earn their own crown. There is also an award for the contestant who sell the most ads or pageant tickets. What is required of state title holders? State title holders will ride in parades and participate in special events and community events throughout the year. They are encouraged to be a vital "ambassador" to their communities as they represent their title. |
